We regret to announce the passing of longtime member Reverend Gregory Dimick. Reverend Dimick passed away February 23rd after an illness. We extend our condolences to his family in this time of loss.
Rev. Dimick’s obituary:
“The Rev. Gregory Forrest Dimick, of White Horse, PA, entered into eternal life on February 23 in hospice care, Mount Joy, PA.
Born in Hanover, NH, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. Dimick and Verla M. (Perkins) Dimick. He grew up in Lyme, NH and carried a deep affection for his hometown all his life. He graduated from Hanover High School and Barrington College, where he met his wife of 46 years, the former Roberta D. Kennedy.
The work, and the joy, of his life was forming relationships with people and pointing them to the glory of God.
Called to the pastoral ministry, he attended and graduated from Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, PA. He served Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Hatfield, PA for 33 years, one of the longest single-charge tenures in denominational history, before moving in 2004 to Pequea Evangelical Congregational Church, Gap, PA, where he served part-time until being named Pastor Emeritus in June 2015. For many years he served on the board of Twin Pines Camp and as a conference organist, necrologist, and secretary.
He served as the chaplain of the Hatfield Fire and Police Departments, and was also a member, and many times chaplain, of countless other community, hereditary, and fraternal organizations. An avid historian and genealogist, he traced his family through five Mayflower passengers to the signers of the Magna Carta. He loved reading and music, and was himself an accomplished writer, speaker, singer, and keyboardist.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Mark S., of Lebanon, PA; a brother, Gary M., of Orford, NH; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 11 at Pequea E.C. Church (5482 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap, PA). The memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12 at Bellevue Presbyterian Church (810 Newport Ave., Gap, PA). The interment will follow in the Pequea E.C. Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to two ministries that were close to his heart: Living Hope Counseling (P.O. Box 304, Gap, PA 17527) and Twin Pines Camp (3000 Twin Pines Camp Rd, Stroudsburg, PA 18360).”
