Juniors learn rural water supply

On the evening of Monday, July 15, a training session was held with the Company’s Junior Firefighters and a few new senior firefighters. The evenings topic was rural water supply by drafting.\
\
Members loaded up in Engine 49-2 and Squad 49-1 and headed first to the pond at Red Hill and Meadville Roads and setup drafting operations and the pond’s dry hydrant and flowed water for a bit. The Juniors were shown how to operate Engine 49-2’s deck gun. The operation was shut down and then crews traveled to the pond on Elam Road and set up a draft with that pond’s dry hydrant. Engine 2’s deck gun and booster line flowed water for a time, before crews shut down Engine 2 and started to pull a draft from the hydrant with Squad 49-1’s pump.\

As darkness began to fall, units returned to station and filled the Engine and Squad with cleaner water and also washed the units.
