The officers and members of the Salisbury Township Fire Company #1 would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Honey Brook Fire Company (Station 33) on the passing of Melvin E. “Mel” Shoff, Sr.\

Mr. Shoff was a Life Member of Station 33, as well as an active Fire Police Officer.\
\

“Melvin E. “Mel” Shoff, Sr.\
\
Melvin E. “Mel” Shoff, Sr., 72 yrs., of Honey Brook, PA, died suddenly on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Lancaster General Hospital ER.\
\
He was born in Red Lion, PA on March 2, 1936. He was the son of the late Allen & Thelma (Snyder) Shoff. He was the husband of Susie (Kurtz) Shoff, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. \
\
Mel was a retired truck loader for the Mrs. Smith’s Pie Co. After retirement, he worked at Martin’s Market of Morgantown and also did transportation for the local Amish with his taxi service. He was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church; a lifetime member of the Honey Brook Fire Company; and the Morgantown Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.\
\
In addition to his wife, Mel is survived by his 3 sons, Donald E. Kurtz of Narvon; Melvin E. Shoff, Jr. of Morgantown; and Ricky L. Shoff of Marietta; 2 daughters, Susie A. Keiffer of Honey Brook, Brenda J. Berrier of Narvon; a brother, Harold Shoff of Wrightsville and a sister Rosemary Griffith of S.C. There are 11 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.\

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10 AM from the Gateway Baptist Church, 143 Suplee Road, Honey Brook, PA, with Rev. Dr. Walter E. Shuler officiating.
