At 4:55PM on Tuesday, July 20, Station 4-9 Fire & EMS, along with Medic 9, were dispatched to the 600 block of Springville Road (Route 897) in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident. \
\
Units arrived on the scene to find a SUV that collided with a utility pole, with the pole and wires down partially blocking the roadway. After impacting the pole, the SUV came to rest in a neighboring yard.\
\
Engine 4-9-1 arrived and controlled hazards on the SUV. Ambulance 4-9 arrived on the scene and checked the driver, whom fortunately was not injured. Medic 9 was canceled on arrival.\
\
After obtaining refusal of treatment from the patient, Ambulance 4-9 and Engine 4-9-1 cleared the scene and returned to station.\
\
Due to the downed pole, and low hanging wires, Squad 4-9 and Station 4-9 Fire Police kept the roadway closed, and detoured traffic over Sandmine and Ranck Roads until the utility companies could replace the pole and rehang the wires.\
\
The PA State Police investigated the crash. \
\
Squad 4-9 and the Fire Police cleared the incident shortly after 10PM.
