At 8:45PM on Friday, January 18, Station 49 was dispatched to the 6000 block of Wertztown Road in the Wertztown section of Salisbury Township for a chimney fire.\

The initial 911 call was received by Chester County, who transferred the call to Lancaster County and advised of fire coming out of the chimney. \

Units arrived with a working chimney fire. Crews cleaned out the chimney, and checked for extension to the dwelling. Due to the infrequent cleaning of the chimney and the resulting heat damage and subsequent fire, the chimney was severely damaged.\

The incident was placed under control at 10:16PM, with the final units clearing at 10:59PM.\
