Vehicle Accident with Entrapment in White Horse

At 2:05 AM on Sunday, June 29, Station 4-9, along with units from Gap Fire, Christiana EMS, and Ephrata Hospital EMS, were dispatched to the intersection of Meetinghouse Road and Route 340 in White Horse for a vehicle accident with entrapment. As the scene was very close to Station 4-9, Engine 4-9-1 and Ambulance 4-9 arrived on the scene within seconds of responding. Due to the number of persons involved in the collision, additional EMS units were dispatched to the scene bringing units from Lancaster EMS and Gordonville EMS, as well as aeromedical helicopter SkyCare1. \

Additional Fire Police were requested from the White Horse, Gap, and Blue Ball fire companies. Traffic was diverted from the scene at Meetinghouse Road and Elam Road, Route 897 and Buena Vista Road, Route 340 and School Lane Road, and Route 340 and Cambridge Road.\

Engine 4-9-2 responded to the Salisbury Township Municipal Building which is a short distance from the scene, and setup a landing zone for the helicopter. Rescue 4-2 arrived and began extrication on the coupe. Truck 4-2 and Squad 4-2 staged in the parking lot of White Horse Machine. Arriving ground EMS units staged on Route 340. Extrication was completed at 2:29.\

Ambulance 4-9 along with Medic 3 transported one patient to the landing zone at the Salisbury Township Municipal Building and transferred the patient to SkyCare1 who flew to a local trauma center. Ambulance 5-2-1 along with Medic 9 transported one patient by ground to a local trauma center. Medic 6-12-10 transported 1 patient by ground to a local trauma center. Ambulance 4-3-1 obtained refusals from 6 persons whom refused treatment. Medic 100 was not needed and cleared the scene.\

The Pennsylvania State Police arrived on the scene and began to investigate the incident. Blank’s Towing from Gap dispatched two rollbacks to remove the vehicles from the scene.\

The final units cleared the scene at 3:28 AM.\
