Two Alarm Barn Fire on Wanner Road

At 4:21PM on Monday, April 15, Station 49, along with mutual aid, was dispatched to the 6000 block of Wanner Road in Salisbury Township for a barn fire. A large column of thick black smoke was visible for miles. \
\
Deputy 49 (Beyer) immediately requested a second alarm assignment. Additional units from Lancaster and Chester Counties were dispatched to assist.\
\
Units arrived on the scene with a combination horse barn/ woodshop fully engulfed in flames, with the radiant heat melting the siding and breaking the windows on the house that was 25 feet away. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and were able to stop the fire before it damaged the horse stalls in the first floor. The first floor sustained only minor water damage and may be able to be salvaged.\
\
The fire was placed under control at 5:10PM, with the final units clearing the scene at 6:46PM.\
\
Thanks to Engine 62-2(Witmer) for covering our first due while we were at the fire.\
