Trash Fire ignites 2.5 acres of field and woods

At 12:57 PM on Wednesday, February 25, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the 6000 block of Wertztown Road in the Wertztown section of Salisbury Township for a brush fire. Lancaster County 911 reported two calls on the fire, reporting a trash fire that was now out of control and spreading to an adjoining field and woods. Deputy 4-9 (J.Beyer) reported a large column of smoke visible from 3 miles away. Upon his arrival Deputy Beyer found approximately 1.5 acres of field and woods involved, and assumed Command 4-9.\

Additional resources from the Honey Brook Fire Company were requested to assist at the scene, as well as a Pennsylvania State Forest Fire Warden.\

The fire was placed under control at 1:25PM, and a total of approximately 2.5 acres of woods and fields were burnt.\

The final units cleared the scene at 2:36PM.\
\
