At 6:55 PM on Thursday, July 16, the Gap Fire Company (Station 4-2) was dispatched to Route 741 west of Route 41 in Salisbury Township for a brush fire. \

Chief 4-2-2 (McGowan) responded and was advised by Lancaster County 911 that they had recieved a single call reporting a fire west of the intersection but that the caller was not sure of an exact location. Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived on the scene, reported 3 large controlled burns in the woods, stating that they would have to be extinguished, and corrected the location to the intersection of Route 741 and Smyrna Road. Assistant Chief McGowan setup Command 4-2, and requested 4 additional tankers, 2 brush trucks, and an ambulance be dispatched to the scene to assist.\

Tanker 4-9 was dispatched at 7:13 as part of the upgraded alarm, and responded soon after dispatch. Once on the scene, the Tanker responded to the Loose Caboose Campground next to the fire scene and supplied Kinzer Tanker 4-5 with additional water, and then filled up at the Gap Reservoir, and returned to the scene to supply more water to the efforts.\

Tanker 4-9 cleared the assignment at 8:39PM, while the final units cleared at 8:55PM\

Assiting Gap were units from the Kinzer, Bart Township, Christiana, White Horse, Intercourse, and Atglen Fire Companies, as well as an ambulance from Christiana Community Ambulance.\
