Squad 4-9 attends the 89th Annual Lancaster County Firemen’s Association Convention Parade *updated*

On the morning of Saturday, June 6, Squad 4-9 made the trip to Quarryville to participate in the 89th Annual Lancaster County Firemen’s Association Convention Parade, being hosted by the Quarryville Fire Company (Station 5-7). The day started out by giving the Squad a quick bath before leaving White Horse for Quarryville. Once In Quarryville, the Squad was prejudged at the George A. Smith Middle School on Route 472 in Colerain Township. After being prejudged by the Delaware Valley Judges, the Squad drove to the parade line up on Park Avenue in Quarryville Borough. \

The parade started shortly after 2PM at the Solanco Fairgrounds on Park Avenue and proceeded to South Hess Street to East 4th Avenue, to West 4th Avenue (Route 222) to State Street (Route 372) to South Lime Street (Route 472) and back to the fairgrounds on Park Avenue, where everyone gathered for food and fellowship until it was time to announce the trophy winners. There were over 115 pieces of apparatus in the hour and a half long parade. \

Once the festivities at the fairgrounds were completed, the departing fire apparatus continued tradition by leaving the host town with sirens blaring and horns blasting for approximately 30 minutes.\
