Rural Water Supply Drill on Mount Zion Road

Just after 6PM, on Monday, April 21, crews from several area fire companies gathered at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church on Mount Zion Road in Salisbury Township for a Rural Water Supply Drill.\
\
This drill involved drafting water from two ponds, and covered tanker shuttle operations, porta-tank operations and use of large diameter hose and handlines.\
\
Engine 4-9-1 and Honey Brook Engine 33-2 laid large diameter hose up Mount Zion Road from to the intersection of Mount Zion and Meadville Roads, where two porta-tanks were setup, to the church parking lot. Engine 4-9-2 then drafted water from the porta-tank set up, and pumped off to Engine 4-9-1 and Engine 33-2 whom were at the church parking lot; they in turn used handlines and master stream devices to disburse the water over the neighboring farm fields belonging to the Fisher Family.\
\
All Tankers and Pumper-Tankers dumped their loads water into the porta-tanks and then went to fill up at one of the two fill sites: Honey Brook Engine 33-1 filled Tankers at the pond at Red Hill and Meadville Roads, and Gap Engine 4-2-2 filled Tankers at the pond on Koser and Cambridge Roads. When the tankers were filled, they returned to the porta-tanks and dumped their water into the tanks, and repeated the filling and unloading process for several times over the evening.\
\
After completion of the drill, all units returned to Mt. Zion Church for refreshments and fellowship.\
\
Thanks to all of our assisting companies for participating in our drill.\
\
Special Thanks to Mount Zion Church for allowing us use of the parking lot for the drill and their building for refreshments, to the Fisher Family for allowing us to use their fields, and to all who helped with the refreshments.\
