“Ride for Kristin”

On Sunday, August 8, a benefit motorcycle ride was held for Kristin Skowood of East Earl. Kristen was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Penn Township in June. Tragically killed in the accident were her fiance, her mother, her stepfather, and two family friends. Kristin was hospitalized for weeks, and has since returned home.\

Station 4-9’s Fire Police were glad to be able to assist with traffic control as the benefit ride rode through Salisbury Township. The 32 mile ride started at the American Legion in New Holland Borough, and traveled through Earl, Leacock, Salisbury, and East Earl Townships, and ended back at the American Legion in New Holland. Close to 1000 motorcycles participated in the ride, which took approximately 25 minutes to pass through each of the intersections that were controlled by Fire Police from 6 fire companies and 2 Police Departments. One unofficial estimate placed the procession at 8 miles long.\

The Salisbury Township Fire Company extends its best wishes to Kristin for a continued speedy recovery from her injuries.
