At 6:46 AM on Tuesday, October 2, Ambulance 4-9, and Engine 4-9-1 were dispatched along with Ephrata Hospital Medic 9 and the Pennsylvania State Police to the intersection of Mast and Red Hill Roads in Salisbury Township for a pedestrian struck.\

Safety 4-9 arrived on the scene within minutes and found two school children who were struck by a vehicle while waiting for their school bus. The children suffered minor injuries and were waiting for EMS inside the school bus. \

Engine 4-9-1 arrived on the scene and supplied EMT’s who further assessed the children until the arrival of Ambulance 4-9 as well as firefighters providing traffic control; Medic 9 arrived and was cancelled by EMT’s since the injuries did not require Advanced Life Support. Another school bus arrived and transported the other children on the bus, and continued with the bus route.\

Ambulance 4-9 arrived and the injured children were loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.\

The incident is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.\

Engine 4-9-1 cleared the scene at 7:39 AM
