At 6:59AM on Monday, August 23, Station 4-9 Fire & EMS, along with Rescue 33, were dispatched to the 200 block of Jacobs Road in Salisbury Township for a gas leak.\
\
Units arrived on the scene with an active propane leak from a propane tank, with a sizable vapor cloud visible on the property. Deputy 4-9 (J. Beyer) arrived on the scene and assumed Command 4-9. Engine 4-9-1 pulled two handlines and went into service dissipating the vapor cloud at the low point of the land (propane gas is heavier than atmospheric air) and at the propane tank itself. Tanker 4-9 arrived and hooked into Engine 4-9-1’s supply line. The additional 4-9 units staged on Jacobs Road. Due to the leak being mitigated at the tank, Rescue 33 was canceled just prior to arriving on the scene.\
\
After the vapor cloud was dissipated, Engine 4-9-1’s crew ventilated the basement of the home of vapors.\
\
The final 4-9 units cleared the scene at 7:42AM.\
