Hose test on Elam Road

On the evening of June 28, crews loaded up into Engine 4-9-1 & Engine 4-9-2 and headed to the fire pond on Elam Road in White Horse. Engine 4-9-2 dropped its 4 inch supply line at the dry hydrant at the pond, and laid its entire load of 4 inch hose (1600 feet) and stopped just past the Gideon King Hardware Store. Engine 4-9-1 then stopped at the dry hydrant, hooked into Engine 4-9-2’s line, and drafted water from the pond, and fed Engine 4-9-2. Both Engines flowed their top mounted deluge guns for a short time.\
\
The activity served a threefold purpose: 1) to see how much hose would need to be laid from the pond to the hardware store in the event of a fire, 2)how much pressure would be needed to crest the hill and supply the fireground, and 3) to rotate Engine 4-9-2’s supply line in the hose bed to try to ensure all hose gets as close to equal use over time as possible, instead of some hose getting heavy use and some hose little or no use at all.\

Thanks to the members that all came out on the hot evening to help!
