Hearse collides with tractor trailer on Route 340

At 2:54PM on Thursday, March 31, Station 4-9 Fire & EMS were dispatched to the 5900 block of Old Philadelphia Pike (Route 340) in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident.\

Lancaster County Communications advised the responding units of a hearse that had collided with a tractor trailer, reported with injuries, but unknown how serious.\
\
Units arrived and investigated and requested dispatch of Medic 6 and Rescue 4-2 to the scene for the hearse driver and Ambulance 5-2-1 for the truck driver. The hearse driver was freed prior to Rescue 4-2’s arrival, and the Rescue was canceled.\
\
Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 6 transported the hearse driver to a local trauma center for treatment of their injuries, while Ambulance 5-2-1 checked the truck driver whom was not injured.\
\
The PA State Police investigated the incident. Old Philadelphia Pike was closed between Plank Road and Churchtown Road during the incident.\
\
The final units cleared the scene at 4:27PM\
