At 7:53 AM on Thursday, June 23, Station 49 Fire & EMS, along with mutual aid were dispatched to the 300 block of Millwood Road in Salisbury Township for a barn fire.

Lancaster County Communications advised the responding units of multiple calls reporting a chicken house fire, with an immediate exposure to a similar chicken house.

Units arrived and reported a 500 foot long chicken house involved, and requested a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene to assist with suppression efforts.

Unfortunately, the chicken house, which was just rebuilt and placed in use after last winters tornado that struck the area, was a total loss.

Thanks to Tanker 32 (Fivepointville) for standing by at our station during the incident to handle any other local emergencies that might arise.
