At 10:08 AM on Monday, August 17, Units from Manheim Township Fire Rescue (Station 20) were dispatched to the infamous Route 30 & Route 222 interchange in Manheim Township for a vehicle accident.

Units arrived with a tractor trailer overturned on the northbound Route 222 on ramp. The trailer was loaded with approximately 80 pigs.

As the interchange is one of the busiest areas in Lancaster County, it does not take long for it to become a traffic nightmare.

At 11:34 AM, the Region 2 Fire Police Task Force was dispatched to assist in moving traffic around the accident scene and along other area roads. Station 49 is part of this task force, and responded, making the 18 mile, half hour response to assist.

Station 49 Fire Police cleared the scene at 5PM and returned to our area.
