At 8:23AM on Friday, September 19, Station 49, along with mutual aid, were dispatched to the intersection of Cains Road and Route 340 for a dwelling fire.

Upon response, units were advised of a tractor-trailer versus a pickup truck, with the vehicles on fire, spreading to the dwelling.

Units arrived and quickly extinguished the flames. One of the injured was heroically pulled from the wreckage of the burning pickup by a bystander prior to Fire Department arrival. Tragically, the other three occupants of the pickup did not survive the accident.

The pickup passenger was transported to a local hospital by Ambulance 33-3 and Medic 04-40 for treatment, while Ambulance 144 transported the tractor trailer driver to a hospital for a checkup as well.

Fire Police from 49 and several other companies closed the road and ran a detour for several hours while the investiagtion was completed.

The incident is under investigation by the PA State Police.

Out of our respect for the deceased persons families, we will not be posting any additional photos on our website or social media accounts. Photos may be found on other news media sites.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of those who have passed, and extend our best wishes to the injured.
