On the evening of April 30, members of the White Horse Ambulance and their significant others gathered at the Dutchway Restaurant in Christiana for the active crew banquet.
The start of the banquet was slightly delayed due to several EMT's being at the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the Buyerstown section of Salisbury Township (see separate story). After all arrived at the restaurant, members and guests sat down and enjoyed a delicious buffet meal and dessert.
After the meal, EMS Chief Corey Gossert delivered a few remarks. Gifts were handed out to crew members and administrative members who volunteered time and talents in 2009. Tokens of appreciation were also handed out to the spouses in attendance, in recognition of their sacrifices made thoroughout the year. Door prizes were handed out to the lucky winners.
We are proud to state that we are a 100% VOLUNTEER organization. It was noted that Ambulance 4-9 has not failed to respond to a call in almost 4 years due to inadequate staffing. This is no small feat for an entirely volunteer EMS organization. Again, we would like to thank all members for helping to make White Horse Ambulance the success that it is.
*While the Ambulance personnel were enjoying the Banquet, at 7:23PM, Engine 4-9-1 handled a vehicle fire at the intersection of Springville Road (Route 897) and Diem Road in the Mount Airy section of Salisbury Township. Fire Police Captain 4-9 (J. Sheaffer) arrived on the scene at 7:29 and reported the fire was knocked down by fire extinguishers prior to Engine 1's arrival. Engine 1 cleared the incident at 7:40PM. |
