Ice Storm brings Trees, Wires and Poles down on Narvon Road

On the morning of Sunday, December 16, residents awoke to the effects of a nor’easter that passed through the area. For those in the higher elevations of Salisbury Township, that meant ICE. Combined with a brisk wind, the weight of a thick coating of ice brought down many tree limbs on several roads.\

Shortly after 8AM, Chief 4-9 (R. Gossert) was notified of trees, wires and poles down on Narvon Road, just north of Meadville Road. Upon further investigation, Chief Gossert notified Lancaster County 911 to dispatch Station 4-9 Fire Police to close Narvon Road between Meadville and Gault Roads, as well as notification to the electric, telephone, and cable companies.\
\
Fire Police arrived on the scene and detoured traffic until the Salisbury Township Streets Department brought road barricades and traffic cones out to the scene to detour traffic from the area since the utility companies had an extended estimated time of arrival due to the backlog of storm related calls.\
\
Units cleared the scene shortly before 9AM.\
