Overturned Vehicle on Mount Vernon Road & Public Service Call

At 5:32 PM on Wednesday, September 12th, Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to Mount Vernon Road, at the intersection of Cains Road in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident standby. \

This intersection is a notoriously bad spot for vehicle accidents, as many have occurred here over the years. This evening’s accident was the second in 2 weeks.\

Deputy Chief 4-9 (Beyer) arrived on the scene with an SUV that crashed through a wire fence and overturned in the farmer’s meadow, with the occupants out of the vehicle.\
\
Ambulance 4-9 was then requested at 5:39 to respond to the scene non-emergency to check the occupants of the vehicle. Fortunately, transport to a hospital was not required. Ambulance 4-9 cleared the scene at 5:56.\

Blank’s Towing from Gap arrived and removed the vehicle, while the Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident.\

Engine 4-9-1 cleared the scene at 6:26 PM.\

Later in the evening, at 7:39 PM, Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched for a Public Service in the 5900 block of Old Philadelphia Pike, to assist a farmer who had a small cow fall into an enclosed manure pit. Engine 1’s arrived and assisted the farmer with the cow removal. The cow was removed from the pit, and Engine 1 was available at 8:11.\
