Wildland firefighting training

On the evening of Monday, May 17, crews loaded up in Engine 4-9-1 and Squad 4-9 and headed to Money Rocks County Park on Narvon Road in Salisbury Township to brush up on basic wildland firefighting techniques.\
\
Money Rocks County Park spans 341.6 acres of woodland in the Welsh Mountains in Salisbury, East Earl, and Caernarvon Townships.\
\
Upon arrival at the park, crews trekked into the woods and touched on topics such as tools, equipment, and proper wildland clothing. Crews then practiced creating a firebreak, which when properly made, will help in containing a fire.\
\
After creating a fire break, crews then converged on the parking lot and practiced deploying handlines off of Squad 4-9.\
