Motorcycle Accident on School Lane Road

At 12:20 AM on Sunday, July 29th, Ambulance 4-9 & Engine 4-9-1, along with Ephrata Community Hospital’s Medic 9, and the Pennsylvania State Police, were dispatched to the 400 block of School Lane Road in Salisbury Township for a motorcycle accident. \
\
Additional information was given to responding units of a motorcycle into the fence, with the motorcyclist down. With this information, aeromedical helicopter SkyCare1 from Brandywine Hospital was placed on standby in case they would be needed to transport the patient to a trauma center.\
\
Arriving units confirmed the reports given to them, but unfortunately, the motorcyclist had received major injuries that were incompatible with life, and had expired prior to the first arriving units. Due to this, Medic 9 and SkyCare 1 were canceled; and a response from the Lancaster County Coroner’s was requested. \
\
Ambulance 4-9 was no longer needed, and returned to station. Engine 4-9-1 remained on the scene to assist the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office with lighting for their accident investigations. \
\
Blank’s Towing from Gap was summoned to the scene to removed the motorcycle.\
\
Station 4-9 Fire Police had School Lane Road closed between Buena Vista Road and White Horse Road for the duration of the incident.\
\
The last Station 4-9 units cleared the scene at 3:07 AM.\
