Large trash fire extinguished on Snake Lane

At 9:04 PM on Thursday, October 9, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the 100 block of Snake Lane in the Spring Garden section of Salisbury Township for an unknown type fire.\
\
Lancaster County 911 advised of a single call with the caller advising a large fire in a field, unknown what was exactly burning. A very large body of fire was visible to responders coming from various locations in the township. Deputy 4-9 (Beyer) & Safety 4-9 (Eno) both arrived on the scene with a very large unattended trash fire in a field approximately 50 feet from a farm building. \
\
The fire was in direct violation of Salisbury Township’s open burning ordinance and would have to be extinguished. Engine 4-9-1 accessed the fire from the south side of the barn, while Tanker 4-9 accessed from the north side. Both units deployed handlines and brought the fire under control. Engine 4-9-2 was held in station, due to Engine 1 and the Tanker having ample water to handle the situation.\
\
The final 4-9 units cleared the scene at 9:50 PM\
