Pediatric Trauma with flyout

At 4:43PM on Thursday, August 16, Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 9 were dispatched to the 300 block of Springville Road in the Mount Airy section of Salisbury Township for a pediatric traumatic injury.\

EMS units arrived and deemed the injuries serious and that the child needed transport to a pediatric trauma center.\

Aeromedical helicopter Medevac 3 was summoned to the scene, as well as Engine 4-9-1 to secure a landing zone in the hay field at the intersection of Springville and Meadville Roads. \
\
Medevac 3 landed and reported to Ambulance 4-9 to assume patient care. Engine 4-9-1’s crew assisted with carrying the child to the awaiting helicopter, who then flew the child to a pediatric trauma center for treatment.\
\
Engine 4-9-1 and Ambulance 4-9 cleared the scene at 5:41PM.
