Pediatric injury results in flyout

At 7:12PM on Wednesday, February 9, Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 9 were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Buchland Road in Salisbury Township for a traumatic pediatric injury. \

Due to the additional information given to the responding units, Ambulance 4-9 requested that Aeromedical be placed on standby. EMT’s whom live in the area arrived on scene and assessed the patient and requested aeromedical to fly to the scene. Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to the scene to set up the landing zone. \

Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 9 arrived to take over patient care. Upon investigation of the immediate area, no suitable place was found to land the helicopter. The decision was made to set up the landing zone at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church parking lot on Mount Zion Road. Engine 4-9-1 set up the landing zone and awaited the EMS units. The EMS units and helicopter arrived and patient care was transferred to the flight crew.\

SkyCare1 transported the patient to a pediatric trauma center, and the ground units all returned to their respective stations at 7:55PM.\
