At 12:24PM on Saturday, November 15, the Intercourse Fire Company (Station 4-4), along with other mutual aid companies were dispatched to a dwelling fire in the 400 block of Centerville Road in Leacock Township. Chief 4-4 (Diener) reported he was one mile out with heavy smoke showing, and requested a second alarm. Tanker 4-9 was dispatched as part of the second alarm assignment at 12:28PM. Units arrived to find a working dwelling fire, spreading to an attached cheese business.\
\
Tanker 4-9 arrived on the scene and dumped one load of water, refilled and stood by in case further water was needed. Manpower from 4-9 also assisted at the scene.\
\
The residence was unfortunately gutted by the flames; crews were able to save the cheese business, but not until it sustained some smoke and water damage. One civilian was transported by ambulance and paramedic unit to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. We wish the injured civilian best wishes for a speedy recovery, and we also pass on our condolences to the residents on the loss of their home, and their damaged business.\
\
Shortly after 2 PM the fire was placed under control. Tanker 4-9 was released from the scene at 2:09 and then transferred to Station 4-4 to cover the area in case another incident were to occur. Once at Station 4-4, the crew gave the Tanker a bath, and then spent time socializing before being released to return to White Horse at 3:40PM.\
\
The final units cleared the fireground shortly after 5:30 PM.\
