1961 Ford Tanker Chassis found in Lebanon County, PA

Things have been slow lately here on the website, so in order to keep some type of updates on the site, Here are some pictures recently taken by Safety Officer Mel Lantz of our 1961 Ford Tanker living its second life in Lebanon County, PA. \
\
When Mel found it, it was sitting at a farm implement dealer near Schafferstown. Fortunately, Mel had a camera with him, and was able to snap a few pictures to bring home with him. The chassis has been reincarnated into a feed truck; the status or location of the old Tanker body is not known at this time.\
\
The truck came to be at the October 10, 1960 meeting of the fire company when it was approved to purchase a 1961 Ford F-950 Super Duty Chassis from B.Z. Mellinger Ford in New Holland, PA. The Tanker body was created by Fire Chief Ross Parmer at his welding shop at the corner of Route 340 and 897 (White Horse Machine today). It featured a 250 gallon per minute pump, a 1400 gallon water tank, and two booster hose reels. It was placed into service on February 27, 1961.\
\
The Tanker faithfully served the fire company for 24 years, when it was replaced in early 1985 by the 1984 GMC/ Conestoga 2000 gallon Tanker, with a 500 gallon per minute pump.\
\
It was sold by the fire company to a farmer in Lebanon County at an auction on March 11, 1985 for $2325.00.\

***Thanks to Mel for allowing his pictures to be shared on the website.***\
