Company approves order of new Engine 49-2

The Salisbury Township Fire Company #1 is pleased to announce that it has approved to purchase and it has signed a contract with Glick Fire Equipment of Bird-In-Hand PA and Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton Wisconsin to construct the new Engine 49-2.

The new Engine 49-2 will be a 2014 Pierce Impel MegaPUC Rescue Pumper, and will be replacing our 1993 E-One/ Freightliner pumper.

Some features of the new Engine 49-2 will include:

*8 man Pierce Impel custom cab

*Pierce MegaPUC 214" Rescue-Pumper type body

*TAK4 suspension

*1500 gallon per minute single stage pump

*1250 gallon poly water tank

*30 gallon class A foam tank

*Husky® 3 foam proportioning system

*4 head Wilburt Nightscan Light tower

*Harrison 15.0 kW hydraulic generator

*Height of 10'8"; Length of 34'5", 215.0" wheelbase

*Cummins ISL9 450HP motor

*Allison EVS3000P 5 speed automatic transmission

*Side roll protection

*Reflective chevron safety striping on the rear of the truck

*Reflective striping, gold leaf lettering, and paint scheme to closely resemble the current Engine 49-1

*Vehicle data recorder

*Back up camera

*Grover air horns

*train horns

*Whelen LED scene lighting

*Whelen LED traffic directional light

*Whelen LED emergency lighting package

*Whelen 295SLS electronic siren

*Federal Q2B mechanical siren

*Oil dry hopper with a 250 pound capacity

*Blitzfire master stream device

*10', 24', & 28' ladders

*Six of the 8 firefighters will have the capability to don air packs

*Three lengths of suction hose

Delivery is expected in second quarter of 2014, and hopefully will be in town for our 100th Anniversary celebration in 2014.

We would like to thank Chester County Station 21 (Oxford) for bringing Rescue 21 to our station to show the membership, as well as Lancaster County Station 19 (Schoeneck) for bringing Engine 19-1 to our station for a foam system demonstration

The current Engine 49-2 will be placed for sale upon delivery of its replacement.
