At 11:33 AM on Monday, March 19, units from the Gap Fire Company (Station 4-2), along with EMS, were dispatched to the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Route 30 in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer with entrapment.
Lancaster County Communications reported two tractor trailers versus a third vehicle, with an unknown amount of patients; one tractor trailer was reported to have also crashed into a building.
Deputy Chief 4-2 (McGowan) arrived on the scene and requested the second and third due rescue trucks be dispatched to the scene to assist.
Ambulance 4-9 was also dispatched to assist at 11:35. Ambulance 4-9 transported one patient to a local trauma center for treatment.
Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to assist with setting up a landing zone for aeromedical at 11:47 AM. The helicopter was cancelled, as the patient was transported by ground. Engine 4-9-1 was placed available at 12:28PM.
Squad 4-9 also responded at 11:48 to assist with traffic control in closing the very busy Route 30. The Squad was released from the scene at 2:41PM.
