Two accidents on Buena Vista Road

At 12:52PM on Saturday, August 7, Squad 4-9 and Engine 4-9-1 responded to the 5600 block of Buena Vista Road in Salisbury Township for a pedestrian struck, along with Ambulance 5-2-1 and Medic 6. Ambulance 4-9 was committed on a previous medical emergency and was not available.

Units from White Horse arriving on the scene found a child on a scooter struck by a recreational vehicle and requested aeromedical helicopter SkyCare1 to the scene, due the childs injuries. EMS crews from 4-9, 5-2, and 6 all worked together treating the child until the helicopter arrived on the scene. SkyCare1 landed in an adjoining field. After the patient was transferred from the ground units, the child was loaded into the helicopter.

SkyCare1 transported the child to a pediatric trauma center for treatment.

The incident was investigated by the PA State Police

Units cleared the scene at 1:31PM


Later in the evening, at 7:57PM, Engine 4-9-1 and Squad 4-9 were dispatched to the intersection of Buena Vista and Cains Roads for a vehicle accident standby. Arriving units found a Chevy Impala that stuck an embankment and utility pole. Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 6 were then requested to the scene for an injured occupant.

Fire crews secured the heavily damaged vehicle and swept debris and dirt from the roadway, while Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 6 transported the patient to a local trauma center for treatment.

The incident was investigated by the PA State Police. Blanks Towing removed the car from the scene.

The final units cleared the scene at 9:04PM.
